Bramley Parish Council

The Parish Council is very active and provides the main focus for the community.

Council meetings are normally held every 4 to 6 weeks on a Thursday evening in the village hall starting at 7.30, members of the public are very welcome and have the opportunity, normally around  8.30 p.m., to ask questions or raise relevant issues. Meeting dates are listed on the calendar on this website.

The Clerk's office is situated in the Village Hall in Hall Road and is open for public enquiries on Tuesday and Thursday mornings telephone 01483 894138.

 

What does the Parish Council do?

The Parish Council is a statutory authority within the Local Government Framework influencing, where necessary, issues affecting higher level County and District/Borough Authorities. In the case of Bramley Parish Council, this means Surrey County Council and Waverley Borough Council. You will have noticed in your Council Tax demand that you make a small contribution each year towards Parish Council spending. That money is used by the Parish Council to provide services in the village including:

  • provision of street lighting

  • maintenance of the Eastwood Road Play Area

  • maintenance of Gosden Common

  • comments to the Waverley BC Planning Committee on planning applications

  • influencing decisions taken at district or county level which affect the village.

There are nine parish councillors, who are elected for a four year term, the current term ending in May 2011.
